The Bernard Sewe Post-Secondary Fund

The Dream

Bernard Sewe was more than just a top student at KDS. He was a devoted believer and a natural leader, Bernard represented the very best of our community. He carried a specific, burning dream: to become the first in his family to graduate from college.

On Easter Sunday, 2003, that dream took a tragic turn. While leading a high school Boy Scout trip to Fourteen Falls, Bernard lost his life in a drowning accident. At such a young age, he was already a pillar for his peers. His loss was and remains devastating to all who knew him.

We believe that in God’s hands, no story ends in a vacuum. To honor Bernard’s life, we established the Bernard Sewe Post-Secondary Fund.

Bernard never got the chance to walk across a university graduation stage. But because of his life, over 300 KDS students have been to colleges and universities across the country. Today, this fund serves as the bridge between high school graduation and a professional career. It provides the tuition, resources, and support necessary for our students to attend colleges and universities across Kenya. Through this program, Bernard’s passion for leadership hasn't just survived, it has multiplied.

The transition from the slums of Dandora to a university lecture hall is a mountain most of our students cannot climb alone. The Bernard Sewe Fund is the lifeline that makes it possible.

When you give to this fund, you are fulfilling a Promise, empowering Leaders and building a future.

Bernard Sewe’s life was a testament to service and faith. Today, his legacy lives on in every graduate who returns to our community to lead.

Will you help us open the next door? Your contribution ensures that for the hundreds of students currently waiting for their chance, the dream of a college education remains alive and well.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit." — John 12:24
